This NetClassroom tip is especially for middle and high school families. The NetClassroom homepage for each student displays the upcoming assignments for a specified time period. You can adjust that time period by going to the top blue bar and clicking My Settings and then Customize Home. Here you can specify how many days ahead should be displayed. Be sure the “Show assignments due in” checkbox is clicked, and be sure to save your changes. This will customize the homepage by student, so you can make it the same or different for each of your children. In either case, be sure to save your changes on the Customize Home page for each of your children.

Dual-credit students have already been notified about this schedule change. Students who, because of this schedule, will have a conflict between their BJU and BJA classes should go to the class that they most need to attend. They should also notify the appropriate person/s by Tuesday, March 7, about the class/es or chapel missed in order to attend the class meeting at that time.
BJU class schedule for Friday, March 10
General information about summer school is available here. Summer school online registration will begin on Wednesday, April 12.
A parent may request a summer class for his/her child online. In general, this is a first-come process. A waiting list will immediately be created for those who are not able to get into the preferred summer class. The academic office will contact parents whose student has moved from the waiting list to the course rolls. To confirm that your student has been placed in a class, check his/her NetClassroom summer schedule one full workday after you submit the request online. Information about high school courses, graduation requirements, and more is available here. General information Registration for fall courses and music lessons is scheduled for April 18-21. Parent meeting 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, in the middle school cafeteria. Please mark your calendars now so you don’t miss this informative meeting. We will cover the registration process and provide an overview of academic information that is important for parents of high school students. Students will receive an overview that week during middle and high school chapels. Coffee with the Advisors 3 until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, and Monday, April 17. These are informal afternoon drop-in opportunities to discuss high school registration or other academic concerns. Registration During the school day (one grade per day) between April 18 and April 21. This will occur during English 8, English 9, English 10, and English 11. Your student should bring a completed Registration Request form (available by April 11) to class that day, and the academic office staff will work with the students during class to actually complete the online registration. The Registration Request form includes a place to write down requests for fall courses and music lessons—and for rising juniors and seniors who qualify, requests to attend a BJU class. Change Requests Parents will be able to immediately view the student’s course requests in NetClassroom, and change requests can be made at no charge through the end of the school year. From May 12 through June 25, course change requests will incur a $5 fee. From June 26 through July 16, change requests will incur a $15 fee. From July 17 through July 31, there will be a $25 fee. Changes made to a student’s schedule after July 31 will be made for administrative purposes only. BJA offers a six-week summer school for high school students, including rising ninth-graders. Students who take summer school may take extra electives, lighten their load during the school year, or make up credits they lack. Cost and courses are available here. The academic office will communicate additional information, such as method and dates for registration, in March.
February 14 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. is the last time Herff Jones representatives will be at BJA this semester to take orders for graduation announcements and class rings. Order forms and catalogs are available in the high school office and here. A deposit of $100 is required (or payment in full if the order is less than $100). Personal checks are not accepted. Please note that every senior must turn in a form with his/her cap and gown information regardless of whether additional items are ordered.
The high school student body organization is sponsoring its annual Valentine’s Day gift delivery service. Parents can choose from a variety of gifts to be delivered to their child(ren) during class on Tuesday, February 14. All proceeds go to the student body AAP (Academy Advancement Project) fund. See the order form for details about gifts and prices.
Orders and payment can be dropped off at the high school office now through Friday, February 10. All orders must be placed before 3:30 p.m. on Friday. (Because of the quantity of items that are delivered to the office for Valentine’s Day, anything brought to the office will be taken to the Markham Center where students can check at the end of the school day.) Please review the exam schedule for complete details. Exams will begin on Wednesday, December 14, and continue through Friday, December 16, with students dismissed between 10:30 a.m. and noon each day of exams.
Because of system constraints, at the high school level we will disable parent/student access to grades in NetClassroom on Wednesday, December 14. Final exam grades may be posted on teachers’ doors, and final grades will be available on NetClassroom report cards on December 19. Be sure to print any information you may need from December 14 through December 19, such as missing work, etc. |
