In NetClassroom, parents of elementary students will want to change NetClassroom default settings to Q2 (quarter 2); set and save for each child. For the completed quarter, the overall grades now appear only as letter grades; individual assignment grades continue to show percentage grades. For the upcoming quarter, overall grades appear with both letter and percentage grades.
Yes, it’s hard to believe, but it’s time for report cards! Report cards for grades K3 through12 will be available on NetClassroom by October 19. A link to NetClassroom is also available on our website. To access your username or password, click “Forgotten Password” here.
Middle and high school grading operates on a semester-long basis. This means that next week’s report card is a “midterm” report card and simply gives a snapshot of a student’s current grades. As additional grades are entered by the teachers through the remainder of the semester, the student’s grade will change; and the grade at the end of the semester will be the final and only permanent grade for the semester. This contrasts with report card grades at the elementary level, where each quarter’s grades are final and are then averaged for a yearlong grade. Music lessons are not graded; instead, a nongraded assessment of student progress will be emailed to the student’s parent(s) by Monday, October 24, for piano students. Current difficulties with the system mean that parents seeking specific information about student progress in other kinds of lessons should contact the teacher as needed. These difficulties should be resolved before the December report card. To show appreciation for the pastors of the churches represented in our student body, we are hosting Pastor Appreciation Day. Please invite your pastor to attend the special elementary chapel service on Thursday, October 13, from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. in the elementary cafetorium. A time for refreshments will immediately follow.
Pastors planning to attend can RSVP to [email protected]. School portraits will be sent home tomorrow (in the normal Friday folders for elementary students, in class for middle and high school students). Elementary class pictures were also sent home.
If you purchased a package and are satisfied with the pictures you received, you do not need to do anything further. If you did not pre-order a package but would like to place an order based on the proof you received, please follow the instructions included in the packet to place your package order online. A picture retake day is scheduled for Friday, September 30; retakes will be completed during the regular school day. Students who were absent should have their portraits taken at that time. Also, as you can see in the information sent home in the portrait packet, if you were not satisfied with the picture taken, the proof or picture package can be returned on retake day and the picture redone at that time. On our website, www.BobJonesAcademy.net, please note the center bar for convenient links to our calendar, student email, grades, and other resources. The link to NetClassroom is the access point for your student’s grades.
To be sure the needed information is displayed on NetClassroom for each of your children, after logging in to NetClassroom, click the "My settings" button on the top blue bar. Here you can choose what grades or how many upcoming assignments show or how the schedule or grades display. Because it is on a per student basis, be sure to repeat the process and save for each child's page. While you can change views on other pages, such as the assignment calendar, these changes cannot be saved and will not be retained when you log out. The only changes that are retained are those that are saved at the "homepage." For your convenience, phone numbers for the various school offices are listed on the "contact us" page on the school website, and email addresses for your child’s teacher(s) are accessible under their pictures on the faculty pages of the website. Bob Jones Academy is closed on Thursday & Friday, September 22 & 23, for the SCACS Convention. However, Bob Jones University will provide child care for faculty/staff children whose parents are scheduled to work that day.
