High school students come to the Markham Center to buy a lunch or snack, do homework, and fellowship together throughout the day, including before and after school. Our Markham moms, Mrs. Brenda Lurtey and Mrs. Pamela Guffey, not only manage and oversee the Markham Center but also develop relationships with students who frequent the Markham Center.
In order to continue meeting the needs of our students, the Markham Center will be renovated during the summer of 2016. Plans include commercial flooring, lighting, and BJA Lions wall décor. The tables and chairs will be replaced and power outlets will be added for charging personal devices.
If you are interested in helping, you can contact Tami Bucholtz or me, Dan Nelson, in the central office (864-770-1395), or send a check to BJA, Attn: Markham Makeover, 1700 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29614. Please make out the check to BJA and specify Markham Makeover on the memo line. Your gift will be an investment in the lives of our students by giving the high school students a fresh and cheerful atmosphere for those times of study, laughter, games, and munching!
