At the Applied Studies Building, where the Open House begins, we have an all-day concert by students of all ages--from the beautiful voices of the elementary choir to the high school handbell choir which plays in fascinating synchronization without a conductor, from beginning piano students to an advanced string quartet. Present to hear the music are parents, grandparents, and family friends as well as visiting pastors, politicians, and of course, prospective families--all enjoying an array of delicious hors d’oeuvres made by BJU’s culinary arts students along with other beautiful and delectable treats made by the high school foods class.
A Kindergarten Korner features not only a teacher who can explain BJA’s kindergarten classes but also some activities to keep young children engaged. The kids will be able to enjoy an Academy Lions coloring page designed by one of our high school students.
Speaking of art, a collection of BJA student art work from across the grades will be displayed and is a highlight every year.
In the classroom buildings, Academy grads, faculty, current parents, and middle and high school students give tours and answer questions for prospective parents and their children, allowing an opportunity to see firsthand what is happening in our classrooms every day. It’s also a great time for you to check out your child/ren’s classroom building for next year.
As a staff, we enjoy the opportunity the day gives us to remember what the Lord has done here and to renew our thanks to Him for that good work. If your schedule allows, please stop by for a visit! You may want to listen to part of our daylong concert, chat with our administrators, or just grab a snack and enjoy a time of fellowship with others in our BJA family.
It’s your opportunity, too!
