BJA’s mission statement affirms that “Bob Jones Academy exists to assist like-minded Christian parents in challenging students to love Jesus Christ, to exercise integrity, to pursue excellence and to serve others.” Categories for elementary school awards align with those qualities—from academics to physical fitness to citizenship. Scholarship awards include an A/B average for each of the four quarters throughout the year and other awards. Related arts awards are given in each area—art, physical fitness, media technology, Spanish, and music—with one award in each area in each grade level. In addition, a citizenship award is presented to up to three students at each grade level. The highest citizenship award is the Legacy Award, which is presented to one student at each grade level who has distinguished himself/herself among his/her peers by demonstrating a helpful attitude, leadership, and a servant’s spirit.
In assisting parents in training boys and girls, our goal is to help young students develop into mature men and women—prepared to be not only productive in the community but also faithful in service to their Lord. The awards assemblies are an opportunity to honor students for faithfulness and diligence toward that goal.
